Old Hickory Steakhouse, Gaylord Rockies

*Update - Gaylord & Old Hickory have since addressed our dining experience & made it right.

There are multiple dining options at Gaylord including an upscale steakhouse, Asian & Italian restaurants, as well as a sports bar. The Old Hickory Steakhouse is where we had dinner during our staycation.

Old Hickory Steakhouse, Gaylord Rockies

The Old Hickory Steakhouse's aesthetic was rustic-chic with wood accents and rod iron light fixtures. The restaurant's prices are comparable to steak houses you find in downtown Denver - if your service isn't going how you'd like, make sure to address the staff accordingly.

I started out our meal with a glass of Cakebread Chardonnay.

For appetizers we had the Hand-Cut Steak Tartare, the Caesar Salad and the Pan Seared Diver Scallops.

Hand-Cut Steak Tartare

The Hand-Cut Steak Tartare was very good; it was made with prime beef, cured yolk, horseradish & watercress. The steak tartare was packed with flavor and the mustard and horseradish amplified the richness of the tender hand-chopped, raw beef.

For entrees, both Ross and I ordered hand-cut steaks and went with the 8 oz. Filet Mignon Oscar Style with lump crab, jumbo asparagus & hollandaise. I ordered my filet medium-rare and Ross ordered his medium.

For sides we had the Spinach and the Heirloom Baby Carrots.

For dessert we had the Seven Layer Chocolate Cake made with milk chocolate crunch, dark chocolate mousse, salted dark chocolate ganache, cherries and cherry ice cream. I paired dessert with a red wine.

The Seven Layer Chocolate Cake was our favorite thing of the whole meal.
