Au Feu Brasserie

The girls & I visited Au Feu Brasserie for dinner this week and let me tell you, we were so impressed. From the ambience to the service to the cocktails to the food, Au Feu Brasserie is truly a gem in Wash Park.

Au Feu Brasserie

We arrived at Au Feu Brasserie and were seated in the main dining room. The restaurant was beautiful; the aesthetic was that of an Art Deco Speakeasy with velvet wingback sofas, leather chesterfield chairs, vintage chandeliers & a gold bar. This would be an amazing spot for holiday parties & events (especially if you go with a 1920’s, Gatsby theme).

The staff of Au Feu - our Server, Emily & General Manager, Ty - were attentive, friendly & made sure our meal ran smoothly.

Au Feu Brasserie’s cocktails were the stars of the night. Mixologist, Miguel really WOW’d us with what he was creating behind the bar & each cocktail tasted as good as it looked.

Kenzy started with the Smoked French Old Fashion made with French Single Malt, Simple Syrup & Bitters.

Smoked French Old Fashion

The glass smoking cloche infused the cocktail with smoke and enhanced the flavor of the French Single Malt. The French Single Malt had a very long finish underlined by oak, peaty notes & smoke.

Ally and I started with the Moulin Rouge made with Tequila, Scotch, Aperol, Strawberry, Lime Juice, Bitters, and a Sparkling Wine Topper all served in a large Peacock Glass and garnished with fire.

Moulin Rouge

The Moulin Rouge was a zippy cocktail that was ultra-refreshing & fun. The bitterness of the aperol, lime & bitters were perfectly balanced by the tequila, strawberry & sparkling wine - a winning combination of sweet and sour.

The Ultima Palabra was made with Mezcal, Yellow Chartreuse, Luxardo, Pineapple Juice, Lime Juice and Egg Whites.

Ultima Palabra

I loved the Ultima Palabra; it was a bright cocktail with warming fruit properties from the mezcal & pineapple juice. The egg whites gave the cocktail a a silky mouthfeel with extra weight.

The Mariner was made with Gin, Aloe Liqueur, Kiwi Syrup, Lime Juice and Champagne.

The Mariner

The Mariner was Kenzy & Ally's favorite cocktail of the night. It was an effervescent drink (thanks to the champagne) and it had a refreshing combination of aloe, kiwi & gin.

For Small Bites we had the Belgian Mussels, Bone Marrow and Bavarian Pretzel.

The Belgian Mussels were made with Garlic, Tomatoes, Celery, Leeks & served with a side of Sour Dough.

Belgian Mussels

The mussels were immersed in an elegant, steaming trio of garlic, celery & leek broth. This simple broth soaked into the mussels making them juicy and plump.

The Bone Marrow was made with Apple butter, Caramelized Onions and served over a bed of salad greens with a side of Sour Dough.

Bone Marrow

This was my first time having bone marrow and I loved it. The bone marrow had a very creamy texture (comparable to butter) and it had a salty rich, sweet flavor to it (comparable to butter as well). We spread it on the warm sourdough with the jam spreads & dug in.

The Bavarian Pretzel was made with Garlic Butter, Salt & Roasted Hatch Chili Queso.

Bavarian Pretzel

The beautiful brown Bavarian Pretzel was bomb. It had a crispy outside and a soft bagel-like chewiness inside. The thick Roasted Hatch Chili Queso had tons a flavor from it's blended cheeses and was just spicy enough from the chilis. The savoriness of the dip was an awesome pair for the salt on the pretzel.

For Entrees we had the Sea Bass and the Linguine Olle Vongole.

The Sea Bass was made with Sauce Vierge & Potatoes Boulangerie.

Sea Bass

The mild and flakey sea bass paired beautifully with the flavorful stock of the Potatoes Boulangerie.

The Linguine Olle Vongole is made with Clams, Shrimp and served with Garlic Bread.

Linguine Olle Vongole

The Linguine Olle Vongole had a wonderful garlicky aroma. The clams and shrimp were pleasingly salty and briny and the noodles had a rich, satisfying taste & texture to them.

For Sides we had Belgian Frites served with Fry Sauce & House Mayo.

Belgian Frites

The frites were awesome - piping hot & generously seasoned.

Big thanks to Au Feu Brasserie, Ty, Emily, Miguel and Larry Herz for hosting us!

Check it out babes and let them know that denv.her. sent you! xx
