Blue Island Oyster Bar & Seafood, Lone Tree

Who else is hankering for some bomb seafood south of Denver? You know I am and Blue Island Oyster Bar & Seafood has officially opened in Lone Tree!

Blue Island Oyster Bar & Seafood, Lone Tree

Blue Island Oyster Bar partners with Blue Island Shellfish Farms in Long Island, NY and is committed to bringing high-quality seafood to Colorado.

We arrived at Blue Island Oyster Bar & Seafood in Lone Tree and we were seated in the main dining room. The aesthetic of the restaurant is reminiscent of a coastal ocean town with cool blues, neutral tones & nautical décor throughout.

The Blue Island staff was kind & professional. We met owner Sean Huggard & he’s thrilled to now be serving Douglas county. Sean gave us great recommendations for our meal. Our server Emily was sweet as a button and also gave us great recommendations for our meal. General Manager Jeff was high-spirited and active on the restaurant floor, ensuring every table had what they needed.

To start we had a Half Dozen Oysters, the 'Movie Night Roll', & two cups of the Clam Chowder.

For our Half Dozen Oysters - we had the Blue Pearl, Naked Cowboy, and Kumamoto.

Half Dozen Oysters

Yes please! Each oyster was fresh AF & oh so succulent in texture. The Naked Cowboys were our favorites - they were brilliantly briny (I love me some salinity) and had a lively, clean taste. They were full, plump and had a strong minerality to them. That minerality went very well with my glass of Chardonnay. Truly the perfect East Coast oysters right at our fingertips in CO! The Kumamoto oysters were our second favorite - they were small, deep-cupped with petite meats that were sweet in flavor.

The 'Movie Night Roll' is made with Spicy Salmon Tartar, Avocado, Cucumber, Popcorn Shrimp, Thai Butter, Jalapeño, and Cilantro.

'Movie Night Roll'

What a fun Asian Fusion roll made with fresh & bright ingredients. The popcorn shrimp added good texture and the spicy mayo’s tang was spot on. Only the Blue Island Oyster Bar & Seafood location in Lone Tree is featuring sushi so make sure to try it out!

The Clam Chowder is made with clams, bacon and comes with a Sea Clam Fritter on top.

Clam Chowder

Blue Island Oyster Bar & Seafood is famed for their Clam Chowder and since we tasted it, we know why! This Clam Chowder was hands-down the best we've ever had! The Clam Chowder was piping hot, creamy & thick with tender chunks of potatoes that melted in our mouths. There was a solid contrast in flavor between the smoky bacon and the fading saltiness of the fresh clams. & that Sea Clam Fritter! The clam fritter was comparable to a clam beignet - it was crispy, golden brown on the outside, pillowy & light on the inside. Tiny chunks of clam were nestled in the fritter’s warm, fluffy dough. YUM!

For Signature Entrees we had the Scottish Salmon ‘Oscar’ and the Miso Chilean Seabass.

The Scottish Salmon ‘Oscar’ is made with Salmon, Big Easy Crab Cake, Crispy Potatoes, Asparagus, and Béarnaise Sauce.

Scottish Salmon ‘Oscar’

Look at how that salmon was plated! Beautiful! This signature entree combined all the decadence of jumbo lump crab, asparagus, & béarnaise with a light salmon filet. The crispy potatoes made for a hearty addition.

The Miso Chilean Seabass is made with Pan Fried Noodles, Vegetables, Crispy Shallot, Shiitake Mushrooms, Fresno Chile, and Miso Sauce.

Miso Chilean Seabass

The sea bass was marinated in miso sauce before being broiled - nice flavor. The pan fried noodles were coated in savory soy sauce and topped with veggies. The Fresno chile added moderate heat to this entrée with a sweet, spicy linger on the tastebuds. I really enjoyed the addition of the Fresno chiles.

For sides we had the Half Lobster Mac & Cheese.

Half Lobster Mac & Cheese

The Lobster Mac and Cheese was topped with crunchy bread crumbs. The mac was rich and cheesy and the lobster sweet & buttery - a great comfort food dish.

Big thanks to Blue Island Oyster Bar, Sean Huggard, Emily, Jeff and b public relations for hosting us! We will see you all again soon!
