Băo Brewhouse

I have been waiting for a spot like Băo Brewhouse to open in Denver for quite some time! This Dim Sum, Asian Fusion Bar has a DJ that spins in the evenings, Thursday - Sunday. Heck yes!!

We visited Băo Brewhouse on Saturday for dinner and had a table reserved in the upstairs Tea Room. The downstairs of Băo Brewhouse is a Tap Room where you can enjoy street food & libations while the Tea Room upstairs is a more boujee, curated affair with authentic Chinese dishes & some boppin’ beats. The Tea Room is where you will find the DJ!

The atmosphere and Chinese decor of the Tea Room is spot on. The music, moody lighting and red paper lanterns are a MAJOR VIBE that seamlessly launched us into a really fun evening. We were sat right in-front of the DJ - Housewife was spinning - per our request and began grooving into our dinner. Our waitress was a sweetheart and kept the cocktails coming.

We shared a couple of Dim Sum plates that included the Everything Crab Rangoons, Bone Marrow Dumplings, and Lobster Rolls. Let me forewarn you that Tea Room’s Dim Sum plates are certainly pricey for the amount of food served (the prices reminded us of what you find on big city menus such as in Chicago or Miami); however the atmosphere makes it worth it.

The Everything Crab Rangoon is made with jumbo lump crab, charred green onion infused cream cheese, fried everything wonton, and spicy persimmon mustard. $19 for 3.

The Everything Crab Rangoons were tasty. The exterior of the rangoon was majorly toasted adding some delicious crunch while the interior of the rangoon was piping hot, creamy cheese & crab goodness. This crisp appetizer was a big hit and we’ll order this again in the future.

The Bone Marrow Dumplings are made with bone marrow, cucumber, carrot, radish, red rice, and sprouts. $17 for 3.

The Bone Marrow Dumplings were really good. The dumplings are cooked with the bone marrow bones which add that rich & savory bone marrow flavor to the dumplings. More please!

The Lobster Rolls are made with lobster salad, celery, lettuce, rice wrapper, and are served chilled. $21 for 3.

We unfortunately were not fans of the Lobster Rolls. It’s difficult to make a really good “chilled” Dim Sum dish in my opinion; I like my Dim Sum dishes hot. Aside from the lobster rolls being chilled, the rolls themselves were super bland and the lobster meat had little to no flavor. The rolls needed to be doused in lemon juice and the sriracha on the plate to get any type of taste at all. We won’t order the Lobster rolls again.

We ordered the Kobe Short Rib dumplings which were forgotten but this wasn’t too big of a deal as we had really come to Băo for cocktails and the green tea shots! Our drinks were never empty!

Overall, our experience at Băo Brewhouse was positive and we had a great time! We’ll certainly be returning in the future. Check it out and let them know that denv.her. sent you!
