We attended the Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit in Denver this weekend and we were surrounded by Van Gogh's richly colored paintings in a dreamlike, digital immersive setting. This was the first time I have ever experienced an art exhibit through projections paired with a soundtrack; and it was truly enchanting.
We arrived at the exhibit and entered the viewing rooms. There are two viewing rooms to watch the 35 minute projection presentation of Van Gogh's many paintings. We found an available viewing bench in the first viewing room & made ourselves comfortable.
When the presentation began, it was exactly like stepping into a painting. Van Gogh's works were cast on the walls and floor and transitioned dreamily from one painting to the next. The projections were accompanied by a soundtrack of thoughtfully selected music that mirrored the mood of the art. We were transported to places like the French countryside and to a “Starry Night over the Rhone".
Near the end of the presentation, "Starry Night" came to life in all it's timeless & universal glory; we were consumed by the dreamlike sky.
The magnificent piece of art casted blue, yellow & green brushstrokes around the entire room. Rolling colors swirled rhythmically around the stars while the moon rose higher and higher in the sky. It was captivating.
Once the presentation concluded, we made our way to the gift shop and also stopped by the Parisian style bar.
This experience was the perfect amalgamation of art & technology and we thoroughly enjoyed it! Big thanks to the Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit for hosting us!
