We attended Dining In the Dark: Holiday Pop Up this week and had a great experience. Our 90 minute culinary adventure was catered by House and Howell Social with bar service provided by Avant-Garde.
Upon arrival, we were greeted and given a token that identified our menu selection. The Dining In the Dark menu changes seasonally and what you eat depends on what menu you choose. There is the choice of Green (Vegan), Blue (Pescatarian), or Red (Meat-based) menu. Each menu includes a starter, an entree & dessert. You can elect to pair your mail with cocktails and or wine.
Once we were seated, we placed our menu tokens on the table so the kitchen would know what menu to serve each of us. Then we got comfortable & familiarized ourselves with the whereabouts of our glassware and utensils. Our server Vanessa got us started with drinks - she was lovely - and shortly after were instructed to put our blindfolds on.
Thus began our Dining In The Dark journey.
I'm going to keep the menu and which menus we selected a secret but here are some pictures of our meal.
The only detail I will give you all about the food? YUM. It was amazing how the taste and smell of everything was enhanced with our sight taken away! We had so much fun trying to guess what exactly we were eating. Our taste buds were on high alert, tasting each flavor note thoughtfully and considering intensified textures.
Once we finished each course, the Dining In The Dark Host came on over the loudspeaker and let us know what we had eaten. Ross and I both guessed our starters correctly. We did not guess our entrees correctly (not even close!). & we kind of sort of guessed our desserts correctly. Next time we're hell bent on correctly guessing all three!
