Number Thirty Eight

Who else misses live music?!

I DO! & luckily, we don't have to look any further Denverites - Number Thirty Eight in RiNO offers an “après style” experience WITH live music while maintaining the safety and standards of a COVID world. We headed there to check it out on Saturday night (reservations are needed at Number Thirty Eight and can be booked with Open Table on Number Thirty Eight’s website)!

Number Thirty Eight is an indoor/outdoor venue showcasing and celebrating the best of CO’s taprooms, tasting rooms, food, and entertainment. AND - as if that wasn't enough to get you pumped to make a reservation - their 18,000 sq ft patio is DOG FRIENDLY (so.much.yes) and they have bomb drink and food options throughout their location. When it warms up, they also have two full sand volleyball courts on their patio. Number Thirty Eight's entertainment is free & no-cover!

We arrived at Number Thirty Eight and got checked in at the host stand. We provided our cards to be put on file and then were given digital wristbands for a Covid conscious contactless check in and payment process.

We were seated on Number Thirty Eight's patio under the covered portion where there are large ceiling heaters. Bring a heavy jacket and blankets if you tend to get chilly; but the heaters definitely put out a good amount of heat. There is also ample seating inside if preferred (but the patio is where the live music is)!

For Drinks, Number Thirty Eight features local beer, wine, cider and spirits from around the state. We went for beer pitchers so we could enjoy the live music and not be running to and from the bar to get new drinks. For our pitchers, we got Wibby Brewing's Lightshine Radler per our bartenders recommendation. We scanned our wristbands at the bar and then headed back to our table.

This is a great light bodied beer that is refreshing (& v chuggable lol). This beer is subtly sweet with hints of raspberry, lemonade and some toasted bread. We will 100% order this beer again. Everyone really enjoyed it.

For Food, Number Thirty Eight works with local chef Merlin Verrier who is serving up international, craveable street food. We went for the Crispy Pork Belly & Tempura Fish Bao Buns along with the Braised Lamb and Al Pastor tacos. We scanned our wristbands at the counter and headed back to our table to enjoy our food.

The Bao Buns were my favorite. The buns were soft and fluffy with a wonderful hint of sweetness!

The Pork Belly Bao bun is made with kimchi mayo, house pickle and green onion. The pork belly was nice and tender with a punch of savory flavor. The Tempura Fish is made with pickled onion, green papaya salad, sambal aioli and cilantro. The Sambal Aioli on this bao bun was delicious with a nice spice & garlic balance. I also loved the crunch of the tempura against the soft bao bun - all about that consistency.

While we were eating and drinking, we got to enjoy music from two different musicians. Number Thirty Eight is currently hosting Western Week Entertainment - this means great Western Week musical talents in addition to food and drink specials like smoked turkey legs, burnt ends, barbecue bao buns and the Bison’s Tail whiskey cocktail to name a few.

We ended up getting a bit chilly so once the live music had wrapped, we headed to a table inside and enjoyed some hot toddy's! We were all about these solid winter cocktails.
