denv.her. was invited to attend the 75th Steer showing & VIP Luncheon at The Brown Palace and we were very ready to check out the 1st and 2nd place steers from the National Western Stock Show 2020! #fluffymoomoo's!
For the 75th consecutive year the National Western Stock Show’s 2020 Grand Champion Steer waltzed down the red carpet into Denver’s most elegant and iconic room — the nine-story atrium lobby of The Brown Palace Hotel & Spa. The second place winning steer accompanies the grand champion as they keep each other calm while in the hotel. The buddy system at it's finest!
The Brown Palace Hotel & Spa’s, 75th Annual Tea with the Steer is one of the Brown Palace's most time-honored traditions. It was our first time attending the event and the excitement from the Stock Show was palpable in the air as cowboys and cowgirls came to celebrate the 1st and 2nd place prize steers!
This year's winner was a fluffy beige steer named Olaf.
We aren't positive if he likes warm hugs but he sure was cute! Second place was a black steer named Zion. These steers are the cream of the crop when it comes to livestock - last year's winning steer sold for $150,000! #dollardollarbillsya'll
What to wear to this event? Think cowgirl chic.
We went for boho/western vibed pieces and fun printed fabrics with with exaggerated sleeves from Free People.
The VIP reception luncheon for this event included an exclusive menu prepared by Executive Chef Rodney Herwerth, an open bar (including Champagne, local brews and more) as well as professional pictures that we got to take with Olaf.
The menu prepared by Executive Chef Rodney Herwerth was comfort food at it's finest. We're talking a massive & hearty pot pie that was freaking beautiful, piping hot and delicious with the flakiest perfect pastry crust. Macaroni & Cheese with heaping pieces of mouthwatering steak. A plethora of differently prepared meatballs. & Veggies Seasoned to Perfection.
We could not get enough of the pot pie and macaroni - yum yum yum YUM.
For dessert? Mouthwatering berry cobbler, peanut butter and chocolate parfaits, freshly baked cookies & made to order caramel whiskey apple crisp. #YESPLEASE
The Brown Palace staff is always exceptional and the 75th Steer event proved that fact yet again! They hire employees committed to customer service and we always leave the Brown Palace happier than when we came!
