Maine Shack

Maine Shack is dishing out authentic New England lobster rolls in Denver & we couldn't wait to get our claws into this seafood.

Maine Shack

We arrived at Maine Shack & headed inside; this fast-casual eatery has the quintessential vibe of an East Coast seafood shack. There is nautical themed décor throughout the space that serves eclectic seafarer & a fun ambiance. Maine Shack offers both outdoor & indoor seating. General Manager Tina & the Maine Shack staff were awesome - they ensured we had everything we needed during our meal, gave us background info on the restaurant & had killer lobster recommendations.

Maine Shack

Maine Shack gets all of their seafood from the East Coast (mostly from the gulf of Maine) and gets multiple shipments in per week. Their seafood is always fresh & never frozen ensuring the lobster is high quality and has the best flavor. Maine Shack’s menu offers Lobster Rolls, New England Specialties, Fried Seafood & Rolls, Sandwiches & Sides - all showcasing a variety of ingredients.

We started off our lunch with Lobster Rolls - we had the Slider Trio which was our choice of three Lobster Roll sliders. All of Maine Shack's Lobster Rolls come with lobster claw and knuckle meat (CK meat) and are toasted on a New England Frank Bun. For our three sliders we had the Brown Butter, Maine Shack & Fancy.

Slider Trio

The Brown Butter lobster roll is made with Poached CK meat in brown butter and is topped w/ chives.

Brown Butter lobster roll

I could tell how fresh Maine Shack’s lobster was the second I bit into the Brown Butter roll - the lobster meat was so juicy, sweet & tender (exactly like what you get back in New England). The lobster had been generously doused in brown butter enhancing the sweetness of the lobster yet also highlighting the meat's nutty contrast. The bun was lightly toasted & extra fluffy which complimented the warm lobster perfectly. The smattering of chives gave a delicate onion taste to the roll. The Brown Butter roll was my favorite!

The Main Shack lobster roll is made with CK Meat, Mayo, sea water, & drizzled butter.

Main Shack lobster roll

This traditional Maine lobster roll shined with sweet chunks of CK meat that had been tossed in hot butter. The mayo added a delicate creaminess to the roll while the salt water added subtle acidity.

The Fancy lobster roll is made with CK Meat, Cucumber, celery, Lemon Herb mayo, & Bibb lettuce.

Fancy lobster roll

This lobster roll was cool with a hint of creamy lemon herb mayo & green veggies giving snap and brightness to each bite. The bib lettuce swaddled the sweet lobster in the toasted split-top roll. The Fancy Lobster Roll was Ross’ favorite.

For Sandwiches, we had the Lobster Grilled Cheese. The Lobster Grilled Cheese was made with lobster, cheddar and a side of tomato jam.

Lobster Grilled Cheese

The Lobster Grilled Cheese was a true summer indulgence with large chunks of Maine lobster enveloped in toasted sourdough & hot melted cheddar. The tomato jam that came with the grilled cheese was excellent - it was sweet with a touch of sour that really punched up the savory-ness of the cheddar.

For New England Specialties we had the Lobster Mac & Cheese. The Lobster Mac & Cheese is made with Mascarpone & Cheddah, Lobster Fondue & Parmesan Bread Crumbs.

Lobster Mac & Cheese

The Lobster Mac & Cheese was rich, decadent and delicious. The combination of mascarpone and cheddar made for extra creamy & saucy bites that covered the succulent bits of lobster. The crunchy parmesan bread crumbs made for nice texture variation against the soft pasta, gooey cheese and chewy lobster.

Big thanks to Maine Shack, Maine Shack staff & Tina for hosting us!
