Ocean Prime DTC, Lounge

Summer is for leisurely evenings spent outside; & the best evenings are spent at Ocean Prime's lounge in the Denver Tech Center. We visited Ocean Prime DTC this week to check out their newly relaunched Lounge Menu. This is one of my favorite restaurants so I was very excited to spend the evening here & try out the new Lounge eats.

Ocean Prime DTC has a lovely outdoor patio & indoor bar where you can enjoy the Lounge Menu. The outdoor patio has ample umbrella coverage & is surrounded by flowers and greenery - it's a secret garden complete with cocktails and delicious food. Ocean Prime offers Happy Hour in the Lounge, Monday - Friday from 3pm - 6pm. You can enjoy half off all Lounge Menu items & Prime Cocktails along with $5 beers and $8 Sterling Vintners Wine by the Glass.

The staff at Ocean Prime DTC never disappoints. General Manager, John Witmer and PR Social Media Manager, Alex stopped by a couple of times during our meal. John, Alex & staff embody that breezy & chic professionalism you can always expect from Ocean Prime. John ensured we had everything we needed while we dined. Our waiter Ryan was engaging, timely and so insightful with recommendations on the new Lounge Menu. Him and his counterpart Alex were also so helpful when we needed to move tables due to some rain.

I started off with a Prime Cocktail - the Cucumber Gimlet. The Cucumber Gimlet is made with Bombay Sapphire Gin, Muddled Fresh Cucumber, & Hand-Squeezed Lime (only $7.50 during Happy Hour).

The Cucumber Gimlet was summer in a glass; this cocktail made the breezy patio all the much more enjoyable. The gimlet was clean with a garden fresh, cucumber taste upfront that faded into subtle brightness - so refreshing. 

Ocean Prime's complimentary bread basket is always a hit. 

The pretzel bread was warm, soft & chewy and the whipped butter melted right onto it. 

The Ocean Roll is made with #1 Tuna, Salmon, Hamachi, Avocado, Chili Garlic Oil (only $13.50 during Happy Hour).

YUM. The Ocean Roll was so fresh and this fish was vibrant. The Chili Garlic Oil added subtle spice that enhanced the richness of the tuna, salmon and hamachi. The hamachi was luscious and buttery in texture. The Ocean Roll was Ross' favorite eat on the Lounge menu (if he had to pick).

The Spicy Tuna Roll is made with Cucumber, Scallion, and is Tempura Fried (only $12.50 during Happy Hour).

The Spicy Tuna Roll had amazing texture - the tempura exterior was delicately crisp. That thin crunch gave way to the chewiness of the rice and snap of the cucumber. The tuna was soft and generously coated in savory, spicy aioli. 

The Blackened Fish Taco is made with Sea Bass, Brussels Sprout Slaw, Jalapeńo Tartar Sauce, & Lime (only $10.50 during Happy Hour). 

If you know anything about Ocean Prime's sea bass (it's incredible), it makes the Blackened Fish Taco a must order from the Lounge Menu. I bit into the taco and it sent me into sea bass bliss - the sea bass was buttery and melted in my mouth while the slaw, tartar sauce and lime added acidity and brightness to every bite. This was my favorite item on the Lounge Menu.

The Smoked Gouda Tater Tots are made with Cheddar & Garlic Aioli (only $8 during Happy Hour). Now, I'm not a big tot girl but Ocean Prime's tots I always go for - they're real good. 

The tots were crisp potato pillows of cheesy goodness. The interior was hot & fluffily dense with potato and creamy cheese.

The Lamb Lollipops are made with Teriyaki Glaze, Togarashi Crumble, & Soy Butter Sauce (only $10.50 during Happy Hour).

The Lamb Lollipops tasted as sexy as they looked. They came to the table juicy with drool worthy umami notes of teriyaki and soy & were seared to perfection. The togarashi spice blend added some heat to each bite.

For dessert we had the Warm Butter Cake. The Warm Butter Cake is made with Fresh Berries, Vanilla Ice Cream, and Raspberry Sauce. Guys, I dream about this dessert. It's one of those desserts that once you've had it, you can't stop thinking about it (& just thinking about it makes me drool).

The Warm Butter Cake was piping hot with vanilla ice cream sensually melting atop. The cake had a lightly crisped sugar exterior with a densely moist interior making for mind blowing gooey & buttery bites. The lightness of the fresh fruit complimented the rich cake perfectly. The textures and flavors of this dessert are unbeatable. A must order.
