Chef Art Smith's Homecomin'

We visited Chef Art Smith's Homecomin' for brunch during a visit to Orlando. This place is AMAZING! From the jovial ambience, to the drinks, to the food, to the wonderful service - Chef Art Smith's is the epitome of a warm Southern Welcome!

We had a group of 14 so I worked with Jordan Scribner, Sales & Events Manager at Disney Springs, to reserve our tables for brunch. She assisted in getting the set menu in place so our visit would be seamless from start to finish.

Upon arrival, we were immediately seated at two long tables in the bar area. The restaurant is warm & spacious with a down-home Southern-Floridian aesthetic.

Bridgette was our server and she was fabulous! She was hospitable & friendly and promptly worked with her team to get food and drinks out to our entire group at the same time! That kind of efficiency and organization did not go unnoticed by our group and we greatly appreciated it! Big thanks to Jimmy Carroll, General Manager and Bridgette for taking amazing care of us from start to finish!

I started off brunch with a Florida Crush. The Florida Crush is made with Tito's Vodka, muddled orange and strawberries, a splash of fresh- squeezed orange juice and agave syrup.

This drink was brunch perfection and tasted like an orange dreamsicle! It was easy to drink and oh so refreshing. I am going to be dreaming about the Florida Crush for a v long time.

For starters, we had the Cheddar Cheese Drop Biscuits. The Cheddar Cheese Drop Biscuits are served with blackberry fig jam & gravy. Everything was served family style due to our large group and this was pre-arranged when I made our reservations.

These cheesy biscuits were full of epic flavor and paired perfectly with the jam and or gravy. These biscuits are one of the most popular things to order at Homecomin' and we can certainly see why.

For sides we had the Seasonal Fruit and the Pecan Smoked Bacon.

The Seasonal Fruit was bright, light & fresh AF.

The Pecan Smoked Bacon was delicious. The bacon had a mid-range smokiness in every bite and was mildly sweet.

Bridgette then brought us some Moonshine Soaked Fruit to really get our brunch going!

a5.jpg

The Moonshine Soaked Fruit definitely put some hair on our chests lol, lol. The moonshine was like fire going into our bellies but we gladly downed it. The peaches were my favorite because they were easiest to swallow!

For entrees we had the French Toast, the Fried Egg & Avocado Toast, and the Fried Chicken & Doughnuts.

The French Toast is made with thick slices of griddled bread dusted with powdered sugar and served with spiced cane syrup.

The French Toast was. SO GOOD. The thick slices of bread had a delicious vanilla buttery taste and the golden cane syrup added a wonderful spice to the french toast overall.

The Fried Egg & Avocado Toast is Grilled Cuban bread topped with fresh avocado, fried egg, arugula, radish and pickled red onion. The toast is then drizzled with olive oil and lemon.

The Fried Egg & Avocado Toast was great! The avocado was perfectly ripe and the fried egg had a multi-tone flavor of salt with a savory undertone. We appreciated the zest the olive oil and lemon added. This dish was tasty, versatile and healthy!

The Fried Chicken & Doughnuts is made with Chef Art's famous fried chicken and served with house-made sugar doughnuts.

a11.jpg

This dish was SINFULLY good! The fried chicken was crisp and salty on the outside and juicy AF on the inside. The doughnuts were fluffy and baked to perfection. Combine that juicy savory chicken with the fluffy sugar dusted doughnuts and our taste buds were rejoicing! The Fried Chicken is Chef Art Smith's Homecomin' most popular food item. You cannot go to Homecomin' and not get fried chicken! This was my favorite dish!

Since we visited for my birthday, Bridgette brought out Hummingbird Cake for us (on the house)! The Hummingbird Cake is pineapple-banana cake with cream cheese frosting. This cake is from Chef Art's bestselling cookbook!

a12.jpg

This cake was GLORIOUS! The banana flavor was prominent but I could taste the brightness of the pineapple throughout. The fruit and spice of the cake was dynamite with the cream cheese frosting. This was my first time having Hummingbird Cake and it most certainly won't be the last!

Big thanks to Chef Art Smith's Homecomin’ and team for making my birthday brunch so special! It was a meal to remember and we will be back!
